  • QEA Remembrance Service

    8th November 2016

    The Year 5 and 6 pupils have been invited to Queen Elizabeth's Academy for a Remembrance Service on Friday 11th November 2016.

    This will be a wonderful opportunity for our older students to take part in a special event with other children from within DALP (Diverse Academies Learning Partnership).

    Staff from our Academy will be walking to and from QEA with the children and will remain with them throughout the visit.

  • Tea party raises money for Macmillan

    29th September 2016

    Wainwright Primary Academy pupils supported a key UK charity this week as they held a ‘Mad Hatter’s Tea Party’ to fundraise for Macmillan Cancer Support.

    The community event was held as part of Macmillan’s Coffee Morning, and pupils from year 5 organised the event with support from teacher Mrs Westmoreland. The tea party was held in the main hall which was dressed up in a magical Alice in Wonderland theme, with cakes, bookmarks and tealights being sold to parents, staff and other pupils.     We are very sorry but due to circumstances beyond our control, our supplier has informed us that there will be a delay on certain uniform items due to a manufacture error. Please log onto the uniform website by clicking here for further details.

    PLEASE NOTE: Children can continue to wear the old uniform for any items that cannot be purchased before September 2016.

  • Drama Club - Aladdin Trouble

    22nd June 2016

    As you know, some of the children in Key Stage 2 (Years 3 to 6) have been attending the Drama Club each Monday with Miss Robinson and Miss Deakin, preparing for a performance of Aladdin.


    It is with regret that we have to inform you that due to staffing changes, the performance will not be able to go ahead in July as originally planned. The amount of work still to be covered in preparing for the performance is not achievable in the timescale available.


    This will mean that there will no longer be a Drama Club

    Every year, as part of our curriculum enrichment, we celebrate ‘Ethel Wainwright Day’.  As a school we are extremely proud to be named after Ethel Wainwright as she achieved so much in her lifetime and worked tirelessly to improve the education for children in Mansfield. We want our children to learn about inspirational people whose lives have had an impact on modern Britain and the wider world.  Ethel was certainly one of these people!

  • New School Menu - Spring Term 2016

    Nottinghamshire County Council currently provide our school dinners and this is contract is coming to an end at Easter. We have been working hard to find the best provider for our school dinners. Some of our pupils have helped us on this mission and they joined us on a great day out where different providers brought us their food to sample.


    We are pleased to say that our school dinners will be provided by a company called Chartwells; a leading provider in primary school meals in the UK.

  • Year 6 English Booster Sessions

    29th March 2016

    In preparation for the Year 6 SATs in May, we will be offering two booster sessions for English before school on a Wednesday and Thursday morning. The sessions will be from 8:30 – 9:00am. The sessions will start after the Easter holiday (Wednesday 20th & Thursday 21st April) and run every week until the exams. The last booster sessions will be Thursday 5th May.

    During the session your child will be offered toast and juice.

  • Sports Relief

    21st March 2016

    The children came to school dressed in their sports kits with a donation of 50p for Sports Relief. In our classes, we watched videos about different children who were of similar age to us and learnt about how their lives were different to ours. This then led us to discuss what we are thankful for.

    Throughout the day each class also took part in a skipathon, where we had to see who could skip the most to music in a timed minute! We had lots of fun!

    In one minute, the staff managed 2,404 skips altogether!!
