On Wednesday of this week we welcomed a fantastic group of guests this morning to Wainwright Primary as we held a full academy assembly celebrating diversity. Our visitors came in to teach our children about their Nigerian culture in a colourful celebration of music and dance. Our pupils were able to sing along with our Nigerian guests and even learned a few of the amazing dance moves along the way!

We learned about the different tribes within Nigerian culture, finding out how their dancing styles vary from one another and represent the character and values of their tribe. We also got to see some very beautiful and eye-catching outfits that form part of their culture.

After the assembly, our year 4 pupils had the opportunity to see more dance moves up close in their classrooms, learning some of the Nigerian language such as how to say ‘good morning, afternoon and evening’ together with asking some interesting questions!

Thank you to our guests for joining us for a really engaging day!
