The Wainwright Primary Academy day is structured as follows:

9am – Academy day begins
Doors open from 8.45am

Children in the nursery, reception and key stage 1 are greeted at the classroom door. Children in key stage 2 are met by their class teacher on the playground.

10.10 – 11am – Break time

Children have a staggered morning break and there is a large playground and a large field that allow children to get some fresh air, spend time with friends and develop through these interactions. All playtimes are supervised by staff, and we encourage active wet and messy play as an important part of the social and physical development of your child.

11.30am – 1.15pm – Lunchtime

Lunchtime is again staggered with all children having 50 minutes for their break. Our reception children eat first at 11.30am, key stage 1 at 11.30am, lower key stage 2 at 12.10pm and upper key stage 2 children at 12.25pm.

Children can either bring a healthy packed lunch or choose from our academy meals, which must be paid for in advance and are prepared on site. As well as two main meal options (one vegetarian), salad and fruit are available daily.

We use a cashless system for payment of meals – details of this will be provided if your son/daughter is successful in applying for a place at the academy.

A wide range of playground games are played during lunchtimes, and our staff oversee these activities to ensure all children are safe and happy.

3.10pm – Academy day ends

Staff see out children at the end of the day, unless children are attending one of our wide range of after school clubs.

Children attend school for a total of 30 hours and 50 minutes.
