Here at Wainwright we are an amazing multicultural academy with 19 different languages! This means our children are exposed daily to a wealth of diverse and cultural backgrounds.

Wainwright is an inclusive academy where everyone feels comfortable, equal and accepting of cultural difference – and with so many cultures and backgrounds, educating our children about all our differences, gives so many unique learning opportunities to appreciate and understand more about the people around us.

Children who learn about diversity and cultural awareness have better social skills, increased confidence, and are often more accepting of others who are different from themselves.

Last week saw some of our families celebrating EID, the ending of Ramadan. Eid al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of fasting, and is celebrated during the first three days of Shawwal, the 10th month of the Islamic calendar.

On Friday 21 May, we will be spending some time learning from our peers who have celebrated EID with their families recently – children are invited to come to school dressed in brightly coloured clothes.

One of the five pillars of Islam is to give to charity so if you would like to make a donation all monies raised will go to Islamic relief.
