We are supporting the Newcross Launderette Community Shoebox Appeal. The aim of the project is simple – bring a smile to the elderly over the Christmas period.

Our very own nursery and F2 are making their own boxes – collecting items, wrapping, as well as drawing pictures and cards to go inside.

Find out how you can support this great cause below.

What do I need to do?

We are appealing for all our academy community to fill a shoebox. We would suggest including some of the following items:

  • puzzle books
  • hot chocolate
  • biscuits
  • warm socks
  • gloves
  • slippers
  • scarfs
  • hats
  • toiletries
  • confectionary
  • pens or handmade gifts
  • the list is endless, but please no alcohol or age restricted items.

Wrapping your gift

You will need to wrap your gift – it would really help if you can confirm  whether the shoebox is for a male or female too – a little tag would be ideal.

Where can I drop my shoe box?

You can drop your box off at a number of places:

  1. Newcross Laundrette – Lime St, Sutton-in-Ashfield NG17 4GB
  2. Paul Ellis Autos – 2 Carnarvon Grove, Sutton-in-Ashfield NG17 2HH
  3. The Cottage – 14 Market St, Sutton-in-Ashfield NG17 1AQ
  4. Herbie’s Hemp –  Idlewells indoor market, Sutton-in-Ashfield NG17 1BP
  5. Wainwright Primary Academy – only for pupil’s of the academy

What happens to my gift?

Newcross Launderette will arrange to distribute the shoeboxes to local recipients before Christmas Day, this will include local care homes and hospitals.
