On Thursday this week (7 March), we will once again be celebrating World Book Day here at Wainwright and have a lot planned! Children are invited to come to the academy for the day in ‘bedtime story wear’ (pyjamas, onsies etc) or come dressed as a character from a book. All we ask is a donation of £1 that we will use to buy even more books for the academy.
From 2.40pm we are also asking parents and carers if they would like to join us and their children for a bedtime story. There will be drinks and biscuits on offer, and all are welcome to enjoy some books as an academy community.
As part of our celebrations of reading we will also be giving away a FREE book to children from our pre-loved collection. If you have any books at home that you no longer read and would like to donate for this giveaway then please pop them into the academy on Monday or Tuesday of this week. We want to encourage all children to love reading and this will support us to do so by giving them a large selection to choose from.
There will also be story jar competitions, a book themed dinner, lessons based around reading and books, and all children will receive a £1 book voucher that can be exchanged with your local bookseller for one of twelve exclusive new books written especially for World Book Day.
We’re very excited to celebrate all things books with our pupils!!
