This October, Wainwright Primary Academy held its annual Harvest Festival, a wonderful tradition focused on celebrating the harvest season and encouraging children to think about helping others.

In the lead-up to the event, parents were asked to support their children in bringing in food donations, such as tins and packets, to contribute to the school’s collection. The children’s donations were then given to The Beacon Project, a Mansfield charity that supports homeless people and those struggling to make ends meet. This hands-on involvement helped pupils learn the importance of sharing with others, especially those facing difficult times.

During Harvest Festival assemblies, the children were encouraged to reflect on how lucky we are to have regular access to food and the difference a small act of kindness can make to someone else.

The Beacon Project expressed heartfelt thanks for the donations, which they say will go a long way toward supporting local people in need. The children’s contributions, with parents’ support, have made a big difference to many lives in the community.
