There is a proven link between high standards of uniform and improved learning, so we expect pupils to show pride in their appearance.

New uniform guidance

As you may be aware, government guidance on uniform has changed. The purpose of this guidance is to ensure the cost of school uniforms is reasonable and parents get the best value for money.

With this in mind, we have ensured that, if parents wish to purchase uniform items with the academy logo, our supplier gives the highest priority to cost and value for money, including the quality and durability of the garment.

However, we have also made changes to our uniform to also ensure that parents can buy all school uniform items (without logo) from any store.
If you have any questions about uniform, including where you can access second-hand uniform, please contact us.

Our uniform supplier is Mapac – you can purchase items of our uniform with our academy logo on their website.

Hair, jewellery and labels

On health and safety grounds, we do not allow children to wear jewellery to the academy, except for small stud earrings and watches (no Smart Watches). We encourage parents to make use of the summer holidays for ear piercing. This will enable ears to heal before returning to the academy
in September.

With earrings, we recommend children come to school without earrings, on swimming and PE days, if not, the children must take them out and replace them themselves. Staff are not allowed to take out or put in earrings.

If children do have their ears pierced during term time:

• For School Swimming lessons through Notts County Council: Children cannot wear earrings for school swimming. We recommend that children come to school without earrings on a school swimming day, otherwise, they must be removed and replaced by the child. If earrings cannot be removed, then children will be excluded from school swimming lessons.
• For PE, earrings can be taped for six weeks from the date of piercing. They should be
removed for PE lessons after this six week period – if they are not removed, they will be
taped. The tape needs to be applied by families before school.

Excessive hairstyles are strongly discouraged and the decisions about the suitability of an individual style are the responsibility of the Principal whose decision will be final. Shaved designs are not allowed, nor are multiple hair colours. All hair accessories should be modest and where possible, in the academy colours.

We do not allow headwear to be worn during class time or inside school buildings, except for religious or medical reasons.

All clothing should be clearly labelled with your child’s name. This is especially important, as uniform items look similar and can easily be confused for another child’s. The school cannot accept responsibility for any lost items.
