On Friday last week we were delighted to support Hello Yellow Day, raising vital funds for the charity Young Minds. The day was held just a day before World Mental Health Day and whilst it was a miserable autumnal day outside, the academy was full of sunshine as all the children and staff in the academy wore yellow with pride.

We started the day with a special assembly with Mrs Hallam explaining to our children the meaning of #HelloYellow and why looking after our mental health is so important. This is a subject that we are passionate about as an academy, teaching our children about health and wellbeing through our wellbeing Wednesday and assemblies.

In the afternoon the children designed their own yellow superhero with superpowers with a mental health theme, had the opportunity to have their photo taken in our special photo booth, and had a dance at lunchtime! Everyone was challenged to be kind by telling a joke, saying hello to an adult at school, and wave at a friend. All the children went home with a joke sheet and #HelloYellow sticker.

Thank you to everyone for their fantastic support and kind donations – we managed to raise an impressive £224.00 for the Young Minds charity.

Remember during these difficult times to look out for your friends, family and others – it’s OK to not be OK, and to talk to someone if you’re struggling.
