In September we launched our very own Wainwright Football Club. Many children who attend the weekly sessions hadn’t previously been part of a football club, so watching them develop and progress since we launched has been amazing – their continued enthusiasm, determination, sportsmanship and effort has been nothing short of remarkable.
Before half term a team of nine players were selected out of 40 to play their first interschool tournament. Six of the nine players had never played a proper match before, so this was a whole new experience for them – they were nervous, but they positively channelled this feeling and emotions with outstanding results.
The first game was a 3 – 0 win which was a great start, second a hard fought 0 – 0, another 3 – 0 win followed, which meant everything was down to the last game. We are proud to announce that we were the champions of our first tournament!
On behalf of the Wainwright Family, Mr Hallam and Miss Haynes we would like to say a huge well done, we are so proud of each and every one on you.
Each member of the team has been presented with a certificate and medal to mark the occasion. A special thank you to Mr Hallam for the lovely medals too!
